Jesse Gilbert is a filmmaker from the Beara peninsula. He began making short films in his native Cork before undertaking a master in Filmmaking at the Northern Film School. His short films have been screened at festivals both in Ireland and Internationally where they have pick up many awards. He has been named an emerging talent by Canon-Nahemi and was shortlisted for the Bingham Ray new talent award 2024. His writing received an Irish Writers guild Award and his photography series, An Chailleach, won the Eíri arts competition. His first feature documentary, Gleann, screened at the Galway Film fleadh and was included in District magazines 6 stunning films. He is the current filmmaker in residence for the county of Kerry where he works intergenerationally with those interested in filmmaking.
